You probably remember when you first started dreaming about your wedding. If you're like most brides, it was years before he asked you to spend the
rest of your lives together. It may have
been while you were watching
Cinderella or one Halloween when you
were dressed as a bride and everyone
said, “Ah, she’s so beautiful.” The significant
thing about all these memories
is that they were so perfect.
Every couple has a different vision for
creating their “perfect” wedding. Yet,
according to national surveys the three
words most widely used to describe a
perfect day are….Fun, Memorable, and
Unique. Different vendors are responsible
for creating these aspects at your
event. For example, to capture the
memories, hiring quality photography
and videography is paramount, but
when it comes to making it memorable,
who will create the FUN? The cake, the
flowers, the food, the photography …
truth is, all these things help make weddings
and receptions unique and memorable.
But no other single vendor will
have more impact than your entertainment
in terms of making your event
FUN, unique and memorable for you
and your family and friends.
Think about a reception where you had a
great time and didn’t want to leave. Did
you stay for the carrot sticks and cake?
It’s more likely that the event was being
driven by great entertainment. We’ve all
been to receptions and left early (or
wanted to leave early). Again, was it
because the cake wasn’t good or was the
entertainment just not very captivating
or fun that night? Which of these scenarios
do you want for you and your guests?
Do you want feelings of experiencing
something magical, something unforgettable,
and wishing it would never
end? Or wanting to make an early exit?
The entertainment you choose will be
the determining factor.
Entertainment is a talent-based service
and each disc jockey/entertainer will
bring a different level of talent, quality of
service, experience, and expertise to your
wedding day. The truth is anyone can be
a DJ, anyone can play music, but the
reality is, for an incredible event that you
and your guests will remember long after
the music stops, you will need more than
“just music.” Some entertainers do an
outstanding job at creating a fun, memorable
and stress-free celebration.
Unfortunately, the reality is most do not.
Most are “just music”….with a microphone. For an unforgettable
evening you’ll need an entertainer and master of ceremonies
to direct the flow of events and keep everyone involved.
The most successful events have a smooth flow, skillful and timely
announcements, and an atmosphere filled with fun.
It has been said time and time again, that entertainment will
“make or break” your event. In a recent national survey of brides
polled AFTER their wedding:
- 72% said they would have spent more time choosing
entertainment to better fit their needs.
- Almost 100% said they would have spent more money
on entertainment that was more suited to their style,
instead of just based on price, and
- 81% of guests said the thing they remembered most was
the entertainment!
Since the entertainment you choose will have such a profound
and direct effect on the success of your event, it is in your best
interest to meet with several entertainers until you find the one
that is perfect for you. It’s your day and you should have everything
you’ve ever dreamed of, but be realistic when hiring entertainment.
Make sure they can create the ambience, energy and
style you are looking for.
With the national average for a wedding approaching the $30,000
mark, expect to pay above $2,000 for the level of service needed to
create an event no one will ever forget. Spending a minority 10-15% of your total budget for something that is responsible for a majority of the outcome is a great investment.
